Vi förbrukar 100 miljarder ton råvarumaterial per år...

We consume 100 billion tons of raw materials per year...

...and wastes over 90%. (Circularity Gap report 2022)

Consuming without thinking about the consequences is something that most people do, unfortunately.

There are simple ways in which we ourselves can change our behavior that will allow us to waste less natural resources without having to compromise on performance, function or productivity.

We have reached a point where the technology in our information and communication society largely exceeds the actual needs of many users.

Therefore, we simply need to decide for ourselves to influence the organizations we work in so that we extend the life cycle of more technology that is used by us today.

Here we go through some things that are practically possible with the reuse of IT equipment and how you and your organization can keep your equipment CIRCULATED for as long as possible.

Five tips for keeping IT hardware CIRCULATED👇

✔ Have a plan for IT hardware before you buy it, set an ambition level for reuse and recycling, and always try to buy used equipment where possible

✔ Engage and include colleagues along the way, which is why it is important to take care of and use computers and, for example, mobile phones for as long as possible

✔ Depending on where the organization is, consider what actual value used products add to the business, preferably showing financial and functional benefits

✔ Avoid accumulating leftover electronics in your storage, make sure to repurpose, upgrade, give away or sell what you don't use so it can be used by someone else

✔ Finally, recycle broken electronics that cannot be repaired, as they become new secondary raw materials and reduce the waste of mining new raw materials

Reuse reusing technology extends the life cycle 🌎

Upgrading, repairing or buying used IT equipment has many advantages, we list a few,
  • you save money compared to buying new equipment
  • you can often get better performance at a lower cost
  • you don't need to change an existing machine park
  • you are using already proven and well-functioning technology
  • you save a lot on the environment when you reuse and don't buy new

There are several different marketplaces where you can purchase the most common IT equipment yourself.

Sometimes there is a need to find more specialized ICT products and then it is good to have as large a network of reliable suppliers as possible, who are both able to handle volume orders and work with regulatory compliance.
